Several groups for which The Blue Eyed Soul Revue has opened concerts are impressive: Blood Sweat and Tears, Fats Domino, Bobby Blue Bland, Chubby Checker, Louise Mandrell. 6:30 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. Hank Staples and Thundercreek |
Hank hails from the Pine-covered hills of rural Jackson Parish. His earliest attempts at singing were made while going fishing as a child with his grandpa and singing along to the tunes of Merle Haggard and George Jones on the old truck radio. Later Hank started singing in church and learned to sing and play the guitar to all the old traditional hymns. As a teenager, he began to hone his craft at small jamborees and music shows across Louisiana and Texas. Sometime before graduating high school Hank and some friends formed a band and Thundercreek was born. The first year or two they played wherever they could and usually for free! Hank Staples and Thunder Creek have now been playing for well over 2 decades and have been an opening act for some of Nashville's biggest stars including Shenandoah, Tim McGraw, John Anderson, T. Graham Brown, and Ricky Skaggs, among others. They have also played their unique music at some of the South's biggest fairs and festivals, delighting those in attendance and making new fans at every stop. Hank carries the torch of traditional country music while incorporating some Louisiana style southern rock grittiness that has garnered him notoriety across the South. In addition to being a singer/songwriter and Nashville recording artist, Hank has been referred to by many as one of the best vocalists in Louisiana, a great entertainer and a true southern gentleman. |

11:30 A.M. - 1:30 P.M. Jamie Bergeron and the Kickin' Cajuns |
They've become one of the most sought after acts playing along the Gulf Coast and on any given weekend you'll find Jamie Bergeron and the Kickin' Cajuns performing at most festivals, corporate events and clubs. A veteran EMT with Acadian Ambulance, Jamie is a life-saver, singer-songwriter, accordion player and just a real charming guy! Their fans, both young and old, are some of the most devout…always at the shows, buying CD's, t-shirts and whatever else they can get their hands on. The band's got five CD's in their catalog and is beginning to appear all across the country. Even the Discovery Channel has featured their music on the popular "Great Biker Build Off 2" series. There's no way to really explain why or how, you've just got to experience it yourself, to understand what everybody's talking about down in South Louisiana. And before long, you too will be saying "I Know Dat's Right"!!! |
2:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M. Sgt. Peppers: A Beatles Tribute |
What can you expect at a Sgt. Pepper's
show? An amazingly accurate simulation of the live Beatles performance
you've always wished you'd seen. Despite the band's name (and their
ability to perform the complex "later" material that the Beatles never
attempted onstage) a full Sgt. Pepper's concert includes more than just
the Psychedelic-period Beatles repertoire; the band recreates the entire
"Beatle experience" in a Magical Mystery Tour that winds from the clubs
of Liverpool and Hamburg down Abbey Road to a London rooftop. A Sgt.
Pepper's performance is a multi-media theatrical event, featuring
costume changes and - when appropriate - awe-inspiring lighting and
video projection. Most importantly, Sgt. Pepper's brings the boundless
energy, infectious enthusiasm and astounding talent that a true Beatles
re-creation requires; their attention to detail is evident everywhere,
from
the spot-on, crystalline harmonies through the album-accurate, jangly
guitar tones, to the "George-Martinish" orchestral accents
which punctuate every performance. On top of all this, they make it look
fun! So what can you expect from a Sgt. Pepper's show? Nothing less than
"the act" you've known for all these years!

5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. Waylon Thibodeaux |
Born in Louisiana's 'Bayou Country' just a few miles southwest of New Orleans, Houma native Waylon Thibodeaux has been dubbed "Louisiana's Rockin' Fiddler". Today, this talented, self-taught Cajun musician has gained a notable reputation as one of Louisiana's best known recording artists. His talents have led him to play festivals, clubs and other special events throughout the United States, Canada, France, Central and South America. His rollicking, crowd-pleasing performance on stage is exactly what one would expect from someone who, at age 16, was Louisiana's state fiddle champion. He never fails to serve up a good helping of spicy, high-energy Louisiana and Cajun/Zydeco music. His unique musical style is best described by Thibodeaux himself: "It's a mixture - it's Cajun, but not too traditional, it's Zydeco with a pinch of New Orleans' sound, a small pinch of South Louisiana "Swamp Pop", a taste of Country and a little Rock n' Roll that's sure to get you on your feet and dancing." Any way he plays it, Thibodeaux's music certainly gets one's attention. Waylon's latest CD is "Who's Yo' Cher Bebe'" on Rabadash Records. This release showcases Waylon's depth and versatility as he performs his unique brand of progressive Country/Cajun music. You've heard it before, but it really is true, this CD has something for everyone. The first cut, "Sweet Colinda", debuted at #92 in the top 100 on the European Country Music Charts. Continuing to climb the charts by leaps and bounds recently landing at #9, "Who's Yo' Cher Bebe'" is truly a one-of-a-kind, must have, for your Louisiana music collection. As a way of giving back to the unique culture that helps to cultivate his gifts as an entertainer, Waylon performs as a member of the Voice of the Wetlands All-Stars. This group comprised of Dr. John, Cyril Neville, Tab Benoit, Jumpin' Johnny Sansone, George Porter, Jr., Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, Anders Osborne, Johnny Vidacovich and Waylon Thibodeaux, performs throughout the country to raise awareness of the erosion of the Gulf Coast Wetlands. Having played for years to capacity crowds on New Orleans' famous Bourbon Street, Thibodeaux has entertained people from all over the world. Fiercely proud of his style of music, Thibodeaux can charm his audiences in French and English. His is always a "must see" performance. |
